The Department of State has temporarily expanded its ability to waive in-person interviews for individuals applying to renew a nonimmigrant visa in the same classification. Until December 31, 2020, applicants may qualify to renew their nonimmigrant visas by mail if their prior visa expired no more than 24 months ago and if they meet all the other requirements for renewal without interview.
