I. University of Delaware Background Information

The University of Delaware is a public institution that was founded in 1743 and has a great tradition of excellence. It is one of the oldest universities in the U.S. – three of its first 10 students went on to sign the Declaration of Independence.

UD offers more than 145 majors, 126 master’s programs and 61 doctoral programs. The most popular majors at UD include Business, Management, Marketing, Social Sciences, Engineering; Health Professions and Related Programs and Education. Some of its top ranked areas include Physiotherapy and Chemical Engineering.

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching classifies UD as a research university with very high research activity.

The University of Delaware is located in Newark, Delaware—a small town on the East Coast of the USA. Considered as an East Coast Classic, UD is conveniently located in the hub of the East Coast major cities with New York City and Washington D.C. just about 2 hours away and a 40 minutes ride to historical city Philadelphia.

VII. Conditional admission to UD

Students are not required to have TOEFL or IELTS when they apply to the ELI and for conditional admission to UD. They can complete the admission requirements as follows:

  • Letters of recommendation
  • Essays and Personal Statements 
  • Talents and Involvement

Students will need to provide their test scores (SAT/ACT and TOEFL/IELTS) for direct admission to UD.
